Our friends, Loren Baker, David Snyder & Jordan Kasteler have launched a new video site named IM Broadcast. IM Broadcast, as Loren describes it, is “YouTube for Internet Marketers.”

In short, it is a video sharing site focused around the Internet Marketing industry. The focus is not just to upload videos on Internet marketing topics, but to also create a social networking site around those videos.

Search Engine Optimization is all about getting things “just right” – but establishing what that is, and optimizing your site accordingly is 95% of the battle.

SEO Tools are the single most important weapon in any optimizer’s arsenal, but people just dont know about the right ones. I have therefore compiled a list of the 10 most important tools, plugins and sites that I use on a day to day basis in my work as a full time SEO

Many search marketers have experimented with call tracking and measurement as a way to capture online-to-offline consumer activity and determine which ads and campaigns are generating calls. But there has also been debate about whether unique phone numbers required by call tracking harms SEO especially for local advertisers. Some new developments in the field make a compelling argument for call tracking and analytics, at the very least among enterprises or large advertisers trying to generate calls to call centers.

The second step is to work out conversion / return – now there isn’t an easy way to do this, but you have three routes – either grab your current conversion by “generic” keywords, and use an estimation (this will probably NOT give you’re the variant ROI’s as in my example above) or segment those generic keywords into behavior patterns. By this I mean you could breakdown your current generic keywords into the type of keyword, and then break that down a step further into the length of the query – rule of thumb experience says that the longer the tail, the closer the user is to the purchase journey. This means you could apply a higher average conversion rate to longer tail – but using your data segmented into keyword type and then into tail, will allow you to get a rough estimate how that mechanic works currently for our site. You can use those figures to estimate the sales.

There’s no advantage to Google in revealing all their keyword data – a valuable asset – especially the data that Google thinks can’t be monetized as profitably via Adwords. Adwords research is, after all, what the Keyword Tool is for, at least as far as Google is concerned. As much as SEOs like keyword data, Google isn’t there to make SEOs lives easier.

It’s a good reminder to the search reps. In many ways, you occupy god-like status on issues relating to SEO. Everything you write, everything you say will be fully believed by some. And if you’re not correct, you’ll confuse people and cause others to lose faith in you. If you don’t know, don’t say — or qualify: “I’m not sure” or “I’ll check on that.”

That was a statement Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made in response to a question at the end of the Bing-Facebook press event today. He expressed openness to working with others (read Google or Yahoo) as a philosophical matter. I followed up with Brett Taylor, Facebook CTO and former Googler, about Zuckerberg’s remark.

I’ve just published a new video about why some people might not be getting many of their SEnuke submissions indexed in Google even if you’ve been spinning your articles to 50% uniqueness, and how to get around that. Watch this video if you want to achieve near 100% indexing of all your content! Newbies and advanced SEnukers alike, watch this video!

It should be a real eye-opener for most people! It talks about common mistakes (I guarantee you’re making most of them!) with spinner articles and how Google uses these mistakes to detect that multiple versions of your spun article were all written by the same person and come from the same source article, and decides to not index them!

Some of the SEO “experts” we encounter exhibit less than tasteful attributes. Having been inspired by The Oatmeal, I’ve taken the liberty of illustrating some of the bad SEO professionals.

I understand that I might be slightly hypocritical in this post. I’ve found myself displaying some of the characteristics below.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to get your visitors to put in as much time on your website as gamers put into playing Halo and other video games? You may not be able to turn your site into a dazzling, graphical free-for-all, but you can adapt some of the things that make video games so addicting. Customize some of the following ideas for your website, and you may soon see a swarm of visitors.

This is why: like I said before, I copy and paste almost all of my URLs from the address bar. However, when it is a top level domain, and I’m pretty confident in its spelling, I’ll type them out. I am so ingrained in typing the www into the hyperlink, I rarely go back to check if it is right or not. Once again link juice aside, you probably have a better chance of getting exact links to the site when you use the www.

When you’re a small fish in a sea of competitors, getting noticed by search engines is never easy. If you’re a car dealer, local restaurant, real estate agent, lawyer, doctor, etc., you’re not only competing with hundreds of other businesses just like yours, but when it comes to link-building, everyone is trying to pick the same low-hanging fruit.
